Hello, I’m Claire – a dedicated dog trainer and reactivity coach

I am passionate about helping dogs and their humans build calm, confident, and connected lives together. I specialise in supporting puppies and young dogs to get the very best start, while also working closely with adolescent and adult dogs who may be struggling with big emotions, reactivity, or confidence challenges.

My journey into dog training began a few years ago when I realised my four much-loved spaniels needed more personalised, thoughtful guidance than the generic training we had received. Like many owners, I knew there had to be a better way – one that truly supported both dogs and their people, setting them up for long-term happiness rather than quick fixes.

That curiosity quickly turned into a deep passion for canine behaviour. I immersed myself in force-free, reward-based training methods, exploring the growing body of scientific research that shows positive reinforcement to be the most ethical, effective, and compassionate way to work with dogs. This led me to gain professional qualifications through respected organisations such as the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, and my learning has never stopped since.

Alongside foundation training, I have developed a strong focus on reactivity and emotional regulation. Supporting reactive dogs is incredibly close to my heart, and my approach is rooted in understanding why a dog behaves the way they do, rather than trying to suppress behaviour. I work carefully and empathetically with both dog and owner, helping them feel safe, supported, and understood throughout the process. Every plan I create is tailored to the individual dog, their history, their triggers, and their family.

After qualifying, I founded PawFecter Dog Training because there is nothing more rewarding than watching dogs blossom through kind, clear, and empowering teaching. My training philosophy is centred around relationship-building, trust, clear communication, patience, and – just as importantly – having fun together. I believe learning should feel good for both ends of the lead.

I am deeply committed to continued personal and professional development and regularly invest in further education, workshops, and courses to ensure my clients receive up-to-date, evidence-based support. The world of dog training is constantly evolving, and I am passionate about evolving with it.

I aim to give my clients not just training sessions, but the understanding, confidence, and tools they need to truly “get” their dog. Whether you’re navigating puppyhood, adolescence, or the complexities of reactivity, I’ll support you every step of the way.

If you’re looking for personalised, compassionate support tailored to your dog as an individual, I’d love to hear from you. Helping dogs and humans build stronger relationships, reduce stress, and enjoy life together brings me immense personal and professional fulfilment. Your successes fuel my passion, and I would be delighted to support you and your dog on your journey towards a calmer, happier future together.
